Summer styling for a day in the office: some handy basics
The warmer it gets, the more you have to think about what to wear for work. Which dress will be most comfortable? Is this dress too short to wear in the office? Is it okay to wear sandals for work? We’ve put together a few handy summer basics that will make you look and feel good from Monday to Friday.
Maxi skirts and shirt dresses
Look at street style fashionistas: Their outfits don’t only look great in the office, they’re also ideal to go out for a drink in the evening. Maxi skirts that reach down to the floor are particularly beautiful. They’re long flowing, comfortable and go with your movement with every step. Combined with slippers or sandals, your office outfit is complete. The longer the skirt, the smaller your top can be. Dresses with shirt collars and round collars are great to strike a balance between blouses and summer dresses. They’re fresh and not too revealing.

Short sleeve blouses and culottes
Shirt sleeve blouses are another great alternative to shirts. They’re just as elegant and chic as long sleeve shirts, but allow you to move your arms a lot more freely. If you prefer trousers to skirts, loosely cut culottes made of lightweight fabrics such as lyocell or cotton are great. Your legs will love to feel the breeze and as culottes sit above the waist, you can even combine them with shorter tops or tuck your shirt into the waistband. Last year’s revival of Birkenstock sandals is one of the best things that happens and Birkenstock remains trendy. They’re not only comfortable, they also make for a decent office outfit if you combine them with pretty nail varnish.
