Managing and maintaining a network anywhere and anytime? Accessing all switches, firewalls and access points via browser or app and in a secure and easy way? No problem with Nebula, the cloud network management solution by Zyxel. Find out more and have the chance to win one of three WiFi 6 access points with Nebula. Participation is open until 2 November 2020.

Hardware is secondary – with Nebula, everything important happens in the cloud. To manage IT networks, on-site visits and expert knowledge used to be necessary. With Zyxel Nebula, this isn’t necessary anymore. On top of this, an intuitive dashboard makes network management simple. Nebula works via browser as well as via an app and can therefore be used wherever there’s an internet connection. Remote monitoring and maintenance saves time and money.

The actual WLAN controller runs directly in the cloud and requires no installation of additional software. Nebula is also great for smaller networks: it’s easy to control and manage even a single device from anywhere via browser or app. The best thing? There aren’t any additional costs: the basic version of Nebula is available free of charge. All data transmitted between network components and Nebula is encrypted according to the highest security standards. In addition, the effective network traffic doesn’t run over the cloud.

Functions of Nebula

With Nebula, clients can be managed quickly and easily and, for example, access can be denied. The SSID is also quickly changed and the network status can be monitored at a glance. Firmware updates can be installed on all network devices with a few clicks. Nebula offers many other features that make network management easier for the administrator, but these are not included in the basic version. Here’s a comparison of all available packs.

For example, all Nebula access points support fast and assisted roaming for a seamless transfer of the client from one device to the next. This is especially important for WiFi calls, video conferences and the like.

Nebula also offers functions such as bandwidth management, VLAN, client steering from 2.4 to 5 GHz, various types of authentication (WPA Personal / Enterprise, Mac based etc.) and Dynamic Channel Selection. Furthermore, a SSID can only be broadcast at certain times, which is great if you have kids at home and are looking for a controlled WLAN solution.

WiFi 6 access points with Nebula

Zyxel's new WiFi 6 access points are also Nebula-enabled. On top of this, they use the latest WiFi standard, which offers greater speeds than its predecessor as well as multi access. WiFi 6 offers the modulation arrangement 1024-QAM while WiFi 5 (11ac) features only 256 QAM. With the innovative 1024-QAM technology, the data rate can be increased by up to 25 percent, achieving speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s. On the other hand, WiFi 6 offers multi access (ODFMA) and RU scheduling. OFDMA supports the latest smart home devices, video and industrial applications by creating low-bandwidth channels that support connections for multiple clients at the same time. With smaller Resource Units (RU), WiFi 6 can support the simultaneous transmission of data to several devices.
