digitec connect with eSIM – new and thanks to you

After we improved the Family + Friends option with your help, we’ve now added the next feature. The comments from our Community members show that many of you would like to use digitec connect with an eSIM card. We took this on board and spent the last few months working on the eSIM option for smartphones. And that’s not all: the eSIM option is extended to smartwatches soon, allowing you to connect your watch with digitec connect.

How does digitec connect’s eSIM service work?

An eSIM allows you to connect your smartphone to the mobile network without needing an actual SIM card. As a new customer, you can choose between eSIM or SIM card when signing up. If you choose the eSIM option, we'll send you an e-mail with a QR code on the day when your subscription starts. The QR code allows you to activate your eSIM.

Which smartphones have an eSIM?

eSIM stands for «embedded SIM», which means that a SIM chip is built into the smartphone. Not all smartphones have a built-in eSIM chip. A pioneer, Apple launched the iPhone XS and XR with an eSIM in 2018. Today, the latest Samsung, Huawei and Google phones are also eSIM-enabled. Check out all smartphones with eSIM.
