Poker is generally played with a 52-card pack. 5 cards are a hand (pokerhand). Without seeing the other players’ hands, players place bets (usually poker chips or cash) on their own hand’s chances of winning. The grand total of all bets (“pot”) goes to whoever reveals the strongest hand or is left over – when none of the other players are prepared to bet the amount placed by him or her. This is where bluffing gives players with a weak hand a chance to win. The aim of the game is to win as many chips, cash, etc. from the other players.
